Heartfelt Gratitude And A Lifelong Memory Will Be Yours
The Moment You Reveal This Masterpiece…
Hi, I’m Marg Buchannan.
My oldest son turned 21 on October 16th – a very special milestone in his life.
I wanted to give him not just “a gift”, but a treasure that would bring back his fondest childhood memories.
Not another iPod or another bit for his computer – every year there’s always a “newer and better” version anyway.
I was determined to find something he’d want to keep throughout the years!
As with most boys, cricket and AFL Footy featured heavily when he was growing up.
We’ll never forget…
- Standing huddled on the sideline clutching takeaway coffee in winter.
- Searching for a shady tree to watch 3 hours of junior cricket in the summer.
Or as a special treat….
- Bundling the family off to watch Essendon at the ‘G’.
I wanted to rekindle those memories…!
But there’s a load of sports memorabilia being sold that is….to be perfectly honest…uninspired and even dodgy
Not to mention that most of it would end up shoved in the back of a cupboard -- not fit to be proudly displayed.
And if something does catch your eye…
How do you know it’s authentic?
Just how “limited” is a limited edition? 2,000? 50,000?
…And you’re being asked to pay…HOW MUCH?
If you’re at all like me…
You want to be sure you’re paying a fair price.
You want to be confident the description is accurate.
And you want to know the goods will show up!
I have to say, I do my homework before buying on the internet. Fake autographs (especially) are a serious problem. Of 10,000 scrutinized in 2007, only 33% were real. A bit of healthy scepticism could save you a lot of money.
And so my search for the supreme gift began…
As our son was such a keen MCC junior member, I was looking for something related to the MCG -- never dreaming I would find what I did.
Reading reviews from tough-as-nails sports fans first got my attention…
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime piece of history. I was amazed when I saw this rare opportunity.
Symbolising over 40 years of history, memories and milestones all summed up by one simple monogram.
A true treasure that I adore and continue to admire every single day."

When I actually saw it -- straight away I knew… "THIS IS IT!"
That was even before I got to hear the story behind it. This is a genuine, dinky-di, real-deal piece -- this is NO FAKE!
It doesn’t matter if he’s into footy or cricket, or just loves the history and tradition…it’ll bring a smile to his face.
Let me tell you how it came about.
In 2004, 21-year-old Pete Williams watched the demolition of the Ponsford Stand at the MCG with more than a hint of sadness. A major refurbishment was underway in preparation for the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
37 years of sporting history succumbed to the wrecking ball.
Excavators hauled concrete from the ground -- timber creaked and splintered - dust filled the air.
Pete remembered a story he’d heard a while back. In the US, the walkway on the Brooklyn Bridge was being replaced. A guy salvaged pieces of timber and offered them to the public as a memento of the famous landmark.
Pete’s idea rapidly took shape.
…If he could salvage the timber, then fans could own a piece of their beloved Ponsford Stand!
On the back of a few phone calls, Pete managed to get some timber from the Ponsford Stand.
He then made a HUGE discovery!
There, rolled up in the back of the warehouse
was the Crested Carpet from the Members Dining Room!!!
Just sitting there – forgotten and abandoned
for 6 months, maybe longer.
Pete was stunned.
This wasn’t just “any ol’ carpet”…this had supported countless players and avid sports fans over the years.
The legendary MCC monogram – on the vibrant red background.
Intertwined letters woven right into the fabric – the unmistakable gold and blue.
The pattern repeated across both length and width – proudly proclaiming itself.
There it was – plain as day.
Pete made an “in-the-moment” decision and bought the carpet, escorted it from the wreckers and stored it carefully.
He knew that a square of carpet with the MCC monogram was surely a piece of living history that any fan – such as himself -- would be crazy about.
His next step involved finding the very best tools for cutting the carpet into squares, so he contacted some carpet stores.
When he told them of his plan, they were skeptical -- "What are you doing cutting and framing carpet?"
But Pete didn’t heed their comments – he was on a mission.
Finally, he enlisted the help of an expert picture framer (also an MCC fan) to ensure a top-notch finished look.
The first series SOLD OUT!
Pete, a self-confessed sports fanatic, was quoted in The Leader saying “It’s the chance to give the people part of Australia’s sporting history back, rather than letting it go to waste.”
The Herald Sun said he had “packaged a prize piece of sporting history.”
Now, this is YOUR chance to own a piece of history.
Millions have been thrilled watching events here. Like…
- The 1956 Olympics where Betty Cuthbert won 3 gold medals on the track.
- The Centenary Test in 1977 attended by the Queen (which, by the way, ended in exactly the same result as the match 100 years earlier!).
- The world’s first One Day International.
The ‘Spiritual Home of Australian Sport’.
Birthplace of the Boxing Day Test.
Stage for AFL’s unrivalled Grand Final on the last Saturday in September.
Think about this…
Having a unique MCG Carpet Frame will lend prestige to a boardroom.
Provide a showpiece in a foyer. Create excitement no matter where you put it.

I’d like to mention…
Your Carpet Frame easily holds its own among valuable pieces of art.
The MCC has a long and illustrious history…
- It drew up the first set of rules for AFL back in 1859.
- It has the largest membership for a sporting club in the world.
The MCG is an Australian
cultural icon.
- One of the largest and most successful stadiums in the world.
Easily takes its place alongside Lords, Wembley and Yankee Stadium.
- The Peoples’ Ground.
- Witness to international sporting drama.
- A symbol of raw ambition and extraordinary achievement.

No effort has been spared to create its visual appeal…from the specialty framing to the carefully hand-cut squares of MCC carpet.
These are our bits of history, deserving of respect.
It brings back our collective experiences…
Going to the ‘G’ as a child – overwhelmed by the sights and sounds.
The atmosphere -- the excitement and anticipation of the crowd.
The smell of hot chips frying, mushy meat-pies, gooey jam donuts.
Supporters’ flags flapping wildly while patriotic fans bellow team songs.
And who could forget Merv Hughes’
warm-up stretches being mimicked by Bay 13?
Not to mention...
Recounting stories like this capture children’s’ attention and spark their interest in the past. I know because I’m a teacher as well as a parent.
Something like this fits into their environment. It’s something they’re interested in.
My son Andrew has always been a keen MCC member. We put his name down when he was 12 months old. He waited for his number to come up for membership from when he was about 8…
The MCC carpet really connected with him. I mean, really connected - with the culture as well as the history.
It wasn’t just that he was interested in it. It gave him a chance to recognise the culture as well as the history.
He was reminded of being a young boy
and walking on the ‘G’ for the first time -- staring up at the stands in awe -- an imaginary crowd chanting his name.
I bought the carpet for my son’s 21st. He’s a keen MCC member -- loves his footy and cricket.
As soon as I saw it, I knew it was a once-off chance to get a piece of history for him.
It will be around forever.
He hopes to live overseas -- this is something he can take with him as a reminder of home.
Bev, mum of Geelong supporter. |
When I stare closely at the carpet’s individual fibres I find myself re-living memories too.
Experiencing emotions all over again…
Somehow it seems to have captured
his growing up.
Each piece of carpet is unique.
Each with its own story.
Your piece might have been walked on by the Don…or trampled underfoot by the 1968 Test Side.
You can almost see the footprints of “Lethal Leigh” and Ron Barassi standing there swapping stories.
And do I need to mention…
This is nothing like the manufactured memorabilia they sell on TV all summer
NOTHING AT ALL
Signed photos, signed cricket balls, signed jerseys, autographs – let’s face it -- everyone has these.
These Carpet Frames are NOT an “assembly line” item -- where there are thousands printed up, an athlete signs them and then they’re flogged off at inflated prices.
No. This is real, authentic sports history.
If he truly loves sports memorabilia…
This will be his most prized piece in the entire collection.
Sharyn (memorabilia collector and Collingwood fan) said
"I bought it as soon as I saw it. You don’t come across this every day."
|
And it’s great for any fan of any age…
I heard about a man whose father used to play against EJ Whitten at the MCG in the 50’s. When his dad unwrapped the Carpet Frame, his face lit up and he started telling stories from days gone by.
To share a moment of delight with his dad once more
was a gift beyond measure.
Without hesitation, I’d like to say…
A gift of the MCG Carpet Frame is destined to become a family heirloom -- treasured and passed down through generations.
The value increases with each passing year…
" We bought two - one as a major prize in our corporate footy tipping comp. These are high-end, A-grade clients…and the prizes are too.
The MCG Carpet Frame fitted the occasion perfectly. We knew no one would be saying “I’ve already got one of those.
Everyone had their eye on it.The guy that won it was absolutely rapt.
Morris Winestone - MCC Member and Richmond Supporter |
"Sports memorabilia is a HOT collectible. The last 25 years have seen phenomenal growth in value," reports WorthPoint
The Carpet Frame creates a permanent reminder of the occasion -- whether it’s a birthday, Christmas, an education or career milestone or just an "I love and appreciate you" gift.
I know you want him to feel special -- to know how much he means to you.
This will make it perfectly clear!
Allow me to mention…
Nothing similar can ever be done again. It cannot be repeated.
The old carpet was laid in 1967 -- it’s already 41 years old!
The new carpet doesn’t have a crest on it at all. So even 70 years from now…No one can replicate it!
This authentic piece of Australian history is SO limited, it will be priceless in years to come.
Tremendous care has been taken with each individual piece’s construction.
The carpet squares are all hand-cut by Pete -- not torn or slashed with an industrial machine.
The wooden frames are hand-cut and made locally in Melbourne too.
When Pete released the first series, journalists were quick to catch on.
The Herald Sun called it a "magical carpet ride."
Pete was quoted saying "…I didn’t want to see a big part of our culture simply die….I want to give everyone the chance to have a piece of Australian history and sporting legacy."
- Can you picture the look on your husband’s face when it dawns on him what he’s holding?
- Can you imagine the thrill your son will get as his friends gather round -- eager to get a closer look?
- The memories that will come flooding back when he looks at it in later years?

An A5 size certificate with an authentic piece of timber from the Ponsford Stand attached.

I’m getting ahead of myself -- back to the MCG Carpet Frame….
This is NOT the enormous photo of Shane Warne that we’re all familiar with…the bowling shot that could destroy your living room ambience…
You won’t be left muttering
"Oh, my God, where are we going to put that?"
"My husband’s an MCC member - I bought the MCG Carpet Frame for him as a gift.
I knew I’d buy it as soon as I saw it. It’s classy, different and one-of-a-kind.
He loves it - it’s in his office in pride-of-place."

In the boardroom – as a showpiece in a foyer – or even in a living room.
Create excitement no matter where you put it!
But don’t just take my word for it…
Morris Winestone - financial planner - has a framed piece in his office. He said...
“Mine hangs on the wall behind me. When clients come in, it’s a great ice-breaker.
People say “Wow, look at that -- where did you get it from?”
Everyone loves the story behind it…they all want to know how to get one!”
Unlike other sports mementos where you’re “stuck” with it…
Morris Winestone - financial planner - has a framed piece in his office. He said...

Let me ask you this…
What would you expect to pay?
- Upwards of $1000?
- Maybe even $2000 if you’ve seen what they sell on TV over the summer…!
There are thousands upon thousands of items in some of those “series” ...
Mass-produced – their only intention is to
make a handsome profit. The numbers aren’t nearly as “limited” as they’d like you to believe.
Here’s what any true fan will appreciate…
The MCC carpet was NOT laid on the floor of the Members Dining Room as part of a commercial endeavour.
Rather, it was thoughtfully designed and installed – an element of
great pride and distinction. Its purpose was to serve the members, fans and sports community.
This Is NOT A Newly-Produced Piece Of “History”. It’s Authentic – Genuine -- And... The Supply Is Truly Limited!!!
With Christmas fast approaching, Pete’s certain that the remaining Carpet Frames will sell very quickly.
In fact…
He’ll be posting flyers shortly to give other fans a chance to take advantage of this great offer – there was a delay in the printing, so you’re one of the first to know!
Typically the frames retail at $987.00 each...
But, Pete's framer is a huge Footy fan and he reeeeeally wanted one of the pieces for himself so Pete simply asked...
"How about I give you one -- And you give me your absolute wholesale price on my framing order?"
Bottom line -- between the discounted framing and Pete's own little "Christmas present" ($150 off)
While they last, each Carpet Frame is
available for only $764.50 each! (incl GST)
I think you’ll agree...
This is just a fraction of their true worth.

This is the LAST series being sold at this price.
Pete knows these frames are worth more than $764.50 -- but he also knows what the MCG means to Australian sports fans.
PLUS, since the original release of frames a few years back, the remaining carpet has been living under lock and key at Pete's mums house, which he is constantly reminded about every time he visits... So it's as a ‘gift to his mum’ for Christmas, Pete has decided to give that extra $150 discount mentioned and ensure these frames rush out the door.
This is your chance to secure a piece of sporting legacy for your husband or son, Dad or favourite uncle.
Or simply treat yourself!
This is the last of the MCC crested carpet.
Pete wants this to go to appreciative fans -- but it won’t be long before this offer ends.
And remember, the new carpet in the Members Area isn’t crested -- this could be the last chance you’ll ever get.
Here’s Pete’s guarantee again…

If after 90 days, it just isn’t what you expected – friends don’t stop and stare or clients are no longer gazing at it – you can return it for a full refund!
Just return the entire piece in its original condition along with your tax invoice and I’ll refund the full amount you paid.
